Acıbadem University’s Kerem Aydınlar Campus Medical Faculty building, which is located in Ataşehir and which belongs to Acıbadem Group one of the biggest hospital chains in Turkey, is entitled to receive LEED Gold certification.

The Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine building, which was designed and built considering the sustainability criteria from the concept project stage, is located on a previously developed site, very close to public transport facilities and social facilities. The erosion and sedimentation plan was developed to minimize damage to the environment and nature during the construction process; measures were taken to prevent dust formation and water and construction pollution. Wastes generated during construction were separated and evaluated in areas such as recycling and reuse. Thus, the amount of construction waste is reduced. The amount of green space in the campus is increased and planted with natural and adapted plants. The amount of water consumption is reduced by using the rain water collected from the soil and roof areas in the landscape watering.

In addition, the low water consumption in the building, the use of efficient fittings, and the use of gray water in reservoirs have also contributed significantly to water efficiency. With energy efficient mechanical-electrical systems, facade layering and proper glass selection, the building has more than 25% energy saving compared to international standards that is provided. The necessary infrastructure and automation monitoring system are designed to track energy consumption of these systems separately. To increase user comfort and health, the amount of fresh air supplied to the premises is kept above international standards; paint, adhesive, putty chemicals with low VOC are used in the interior.
