Yıldız Holding Çamlıca Campus, an office campus with approximately 1000 employees, is evaluated under the LEED for Existing Buildings: Operation & Maintenance category as it enters the existing building category within the framework of LEED certification.
LEED for Existing Buildings: A significant portion of the work being done and under way for the criteria specified in the Operation & Maintenance category can be summarized under the following headings:
- Integrated pest control planning and practices that are not harmful to the environment and biodiversity,
- Reduction of transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions due to the encouragement of public transportation and provision of facilities,
- Under the terms of the campus, establishment of green areas with plants that need local water sources or a few water sources adapted to local climate conditions,
- The external lighting power is pulled below the maximum values specified by LEED,
- Replacement of luminaires used in exterior illumination with luminaires that will not cause light pollution,
- Conversion of water-consuming faucets and reservoirs to models with values below the maximum values specified by LEED,
- Establishing a system that creates opportunities for continuous improvement on the basis of continuous follow-up of water consumption according to usage area within the weekly periods and monitoring of trends,
- The detailed energy efficiency studies of energy-consuming main systems of buildings in accordance with the ASHRAE standards, the identification of energy saving focuses and the forming of the roadmap for improving energy efficiency,
- Considering budgetary boundaries according to the roadmap of energy efficiency improvement, to make economically suitable investments with short repayment periods and monitoring the results of energy consumption,
- The use of cooling fluids which are not harmful to the ozone layer and have at least a minimum contribution to global warming,
- Establishment of simple counter systems that will enable the energy consumption values to be tracked separately on a system basis,
- The procurement of electricity from renewable sources of electricity from a supplier that produces electricity,
- The preference of energy efficient products with low energy consumption values in electronic products and adapting them to general purchasing policy,
- The preference for low-crowd fluorescent type lamps and adapting to general procurement policy,
- Disposal of waste, recycling companies and municipal contracts and protocols made in accordance with the direct recycling.
