SERTRANS Hadımköy Building has become the first logistic center in Turkey to receive the LEED green building certificate. The building, which consists of management and logistics departments, was built on 45.000 m2 land in TAYSAD organized industrial zone. The building was awarded with a Gold certificate by the USGBC for its design, due to the considerations in the construction phase. With selected equipment and building shell values, project was able to save 26% of energy compared to ASHRAE base building. With selected water batteries, 45% water saving is achieved in indoor water use, while rain water is collected and used in landscape watering, the water saving outside the building reaches 100%. In addition to these, other applications such as the choice of materials used in building construction and the planning of recycling of wastes in operation are among the green building elements of the certification process.
