Istanbul- Philips Turkey office was awarded with Turkey’s second green office certificate by LEED, an environmentally-friendly building certification system developed by American Green Building Council (USGBC). Philips has earned the LEED certification at Silver (Silver), with the help of consultancy services provided by Altensis.

Green offices have a proven scientific advantage over physical and psychological health, productivity and performance compared to other offices. The most important feature of green offices is that they provide 30% more fresh air compared to normal buildings and the use of daylighting systems.

The Philips Turkey office is designed in accordance with the concept of Work Place Innovation as well as being green. Designed according to this concept, the Philips office provides its employees with flexible and mobile work environment, equipped with advanced technology, able to choose according to their needs, open, closed office conditions and more efficient use of their time in dynamic business life. This modern design in the working environment enhances performance and productivity.

Philips Turkey Green Office/ Features:

About 40 percent of the world’s energy consumption and about 30 percent of water consumption come from buildings, according to research done. In addition, about 90 percent of human life is in buildings. The environmentally friendly and sustainable concept of green offices is based on these assumptions and differs from other office structures.

  • By using energy efficient lighting fixtures and light bulbs, according to international standards (ASHRAE-IESNA) 30% saving of lighting energy.
  • Utilizing intelligent lighting systems and daylight sensors, the sunlight is utilized at maximum level.
  • Energy-saving fluorescent lamps and luminaires are used for general office and corridor lighting, while decorative LED lighting atmospheres are used for other areas.
  • The energy used for ventilation and air conditioning is 35% saving compared to an ordinary office building, saving approximately 15% according to international standards (ASHRAE).
  • In addition, indoor air quality is kept high by using 100% fresh air conditioning units. 30% more fresh air than normal offices.
  • The building is insulated 40% more than traditional appliances, which saves a lot of energy for heating and cooling.
  • Rainwater is collected and recycled in the irrigation system, using about 40% of the water according to international EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) standards, using waterless urinals and waterproof urinals in the office toilets.
  • The majority of equipment is ENERGY STAR certified and less energy-consuming models are preferred.
  • The system is used to sort out the waste that will be generated during office use and to send the recycling.
  • The types of paint and primers used in the Philips office that have low volatile harmful organic matter (VOC) content have been chosen to minimize the harmful effects on health.
