As a sustainability considering project, EMAAR SQUARE SHOPPING MALL is designed and constructed close to public transport and social facilities, located in a previously developed land. In order to minimize the adverse effect on the environment, erosion and sedimentation plans are developed, precautions are taken to prevent water and construction pollution caused by dust generation. Construction wastes are reduced by recovery of suitable wastes with recycling and reusing methods. Efficient water armature utilization leads to water saving in a significant value. With the selection of energy-efficient mechanical-electrical systems, stratified facades and appropriate glass, 16% energy saving is provided when compared to international standards. Required infrastructure and automation monitoring systems are designed in order to watch system’s energy consumption separately. Fresh air amount is set above the international standards and VOC content of the building construction chemicals that used during the construction of interior spaces, is selected to be the lowest ratio in order to increase interior living health and comfort.
