DHL Express Istanbul Gateaway is located at Istanbul Airport, has been awarded the GOLD level certification for the LEED v4 for Building Design and Construction: Warehouse & Distribution Centers category. Many human-centric and eco-friendly features in the project have been integrated into the project design and construction processes.

In order to reduce the adverse effect on the environment, erosion and sedimentation plans have been developed during the construction process; measures have been taken to prevent water and construction pollution. The amount of waste has been reduced by ensuring the recycling and reuse of the waste generated.

In project scope, the requirements of ASHRAE 90.1-2010 Standard were prioritized by using efficient lighting fixtures, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. The mechanical-electrical systems with energy efficiency, facade design, and appropriate glass selection in the building have provided over 20% energy savings according to international standards. By selecting efficient water fixtures, more than 40% efficiency in water consumption has been achieved.

For the purpose of increasing the indoor air quality, the amount of fresh air supplied was set above the ASHRAE 62.1 standard and low emission materials were preferred and thermal comfort conditions were provided. Materials with an Environmental Product Declaration, responsible sourcing, and recycled content were used in the building. In order to reduce building wastes during the operation period, it is planned that all recyclable wastes will be collected separately and sent to recycling.
