Başakşehir Living-Lab, Turkey’s first Living-Lab project and projected by Basaksehir Municipality, was awarded with LEED Gold certification.

The project, which has a mixed office structure incorporates functions such as family health center and music studio. The Başakşehir Living-Lab project, which has a construction area of approximately 3200 m2, consists of 4 floors.

All processes from the design stage to the construction completion stage are planned considering the sustainability criteria; Architectural, mechanical, electrical systems are designed and applied according to international criteria. An erosion and sedimentation plan was developed to reduce the impacts on the environment during construction, and a waste management plan was created to separate recyclable wastes. With the use of renewable energy systems such as high efficiency devices, PV panels, solar thermal and wind turbines, the energy performance of the building has been significantly increased and carbon emissions have been reduced at the same time. The total amount of water consumption is reduced when rainwater and gray water are collected and used in the reservoir and plant irrigation to provide comfort to the building.

With all these features, Basaksehir Living Lab Project is the first in Turkey because of its function, green building features and LEED Gold Certificate as well as all these features it was build with the support of a public institution.
