The Oyak Tandoğan Headquarters Building, located in Tandoğan, Ankara, has received a Gold certification in the LEED v4 BD+C New Construction category. This modern office project was designed and built by integrating LEED certification criteria to create a healthy, environmentally friendly, and sustainable work environment.
During the design phase, preliminary analyses for water and energy efficiency were conducted, guiding the project design based on these findings.
The building’s proximity to public transportation and its accessibility to social amenities have reduced individual car usage, contributing to lower emissions. Additionally, charging stations have been installed to encourage the use of electric vehicles.
In terms of sustainable land use, green space within the site has been increased, enhancing biodiversity with plant species suitable for the region’s climate and soil. The landscape design ensures that employees have access to open green areas for active use. To mitigate the heat island effect, light-colored materials were chosen for roofs and hardscapes.
For water efficiency, water-saving fixtures compliant with EPA standards were used, and drought-resistant plants along with efficient irrigation systems were selected for the landscape areas, achieving over a 40% reduction in indoor water consumption.
Energy efficiency measures include solutions that comply with the ASHRAE 90.1-2010 standard for heating, cooling, and lighting systems, optimizing the thermal performance of the building envelope. Efficient selection of mechanical systems and continuous monitoring through an energy tracking system have resulted in more than 20% energy savings.
Construction waste was sent to recycling facilities to help conserve resources, with priority given to EPD-certified, recycled, and local materials.
To enhance indoor air quality, fresh air rates were set in accordance with ASHRAE 62.1-2010 standards, and low-emission materials were selected. Special design solutions were implemented to maximize natural daylight for employees, ensuring acoustic comfort through these measures.
